What is Curriculum for Life?
Curriculum for Life is website provides an advice service to help young people answer questions about navigating adult life. Young people have created it with Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA).
It has information on it about a wide range of topics, all designed to help young people learn about new skills or things they might need to know.

We collect different data depending on whether you just visit the website or choose to submit data to us for display on Curriculum for Life.

When you visit the Curriculum for Life website, we collect data about your browsing activity. This includes, but is not limited to:

WordPress
We use WordPress to build the website and store content. Our WordPress installation also collects anonymised usage data and displays this within the website. This is used to power the “view counter” functionality on each article on our website. This data is fully anonymous and cannot be used to identify you.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to analyse how our site is used and to make sure the site is meeting the needs of those using it. Google Analytics does not store your IP address, and your use of the site is anonymised, so we can’t identify you.

YouTube
We use YouTube to embed videos from YouTube within our website. YouTube is a Google service. Depending on your settings within Google or YouTube, this may mean you see personalised recommendations or other personalised content. We don’t store or log any of the data that YouTube or Google may collect.
Cookies
These services all use cookies to function. Cookies remember bits of information from your visit to the site.
A cookie is a simple text file that’s stored on your computer or mobile device by a website’s server. Only that server can retrieve or read the contents of that cookie. Each cookie is unique to your web browser. So if we put a cookie on your computer, it can’t be read by any other website.

Similarly, anyone who is featured in original visual media, or who has an original quote ascribed to them on the website, has given their explicit consent to this. Any party who has previously consented to their personal information being on the Curriculum for Life website can withdraw this consent at any time or update their information by emailing us at [email protected]. This will result in the adaptation or full withdrawal of the related content.

Generally, personal information in our control will not be sent outside EEA, unless stored within cloud based computer services. If we transfer your information beyond the EU, we will make sure that it’s protected in the same way as if it was being used in the EU and have appropriate procedures and technologies in place to maintain the security of all personal information processed outside of the EEA.

Any data we collect as you use the site is stored using services which meet a range of security principles and legal requirements.
Any data you send to us is at your own risk as sending information over the internet is generally not completely secure, and we can’t guarantee the security of your data while it’s in transit. Once we receive your data, we have procedures and security features in place to keep your data secure.
How long will we keep your data?
Curriculum for Life is designed to be current. For this reason, anyone’s personal information (names and visual media) featured on the website will be removed after a maximum of five years as the content is refreshed. The information that we hold to improve and evaluate our service is held as statistical data. This means that we are not able to identify individual people from this data.
Your data rights
You have various data rights. You can:
- ask for copies of your data
- raise concerns if you think your data is not being used or looked after in the right way
- make sure your data is accurate and up to date
- ask for a copy of your data in a digital format, for example as a csv file. You can also ask for your data to be transferred to another organisation.

Privacy notice and user agreement of the ‘Curriculum for Life GM Educator Resource Hub
The information you provide will be used for the purposes of the GMCA’s ‘Curriculum for Life Educator Resource Hub. As part of the service, we will be using Padlet as a digital repository, for educators to upload and also download resources to be utilised with the Curriculum for Life website. Lead teachers must ensure, and will be asked to confirm, that the resources they submit for display on the ‘Curriculum for Life GM Educator Resource Repository’ have gained permission on the intended use and that no details about individuals are included in the information published.
By uploading content, you consent to us using your information in this way. We will retain your data for as long as they are needed for the Curriculum for Life GM Educator Repository. If you change your mind and wish to withdraw your consent after uploading content, please email: [email protected]
The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) is the Data Controller for personal information collected in this form.
