The National Saturday Club is a nationwide initiative offering young people (age 13-16) the opportunity to attend their local university, college or cultural institution and study their favourite subjects for free.

The Games Design Saturday Club at Hopwood Hall College in Rochdale gives members the opportunity to attend free Saturday morning classes in their local area. Our aim is to nurture the young people’s talent, build their confidence and give them the opportunity to learn all about the E-sports & Games industry and the use of digital technology.

Through hands-on sessions guided by industry professionals, Club members will develop technical and practical skills essential for the sector. From shoutcasting and streaming to 3D modelling, texturing, and 3D printing, participants will work with software like Blender, Substance Painter, and OBS to understand key tools and workflows.

Creativity in Rochdale has no boundaries! The Club provides a space for creative exploration, encouraging self-expression and innovation. Members will gain insight into one of the fastest-growing industries globally, preparing them to consider careers in Games and E-sports. Explore 3D modelling software and workflows in prop and asset modelling, establish your own stream and develop your shoutcasting skills, preparing you to pursue a future career.

What are the benefits?

Not only by joining a club will you delve deeper into a subject you are interested in, it also allows you to explore whether this area is something you would like to build a career in, and if you pursued a pathway doing this, the sorts of projects you can get involved in. It also allows you to explore post 16 institutions, giving you a valuable insight as to where you could potentially be studying in a few years!

You will also learn new skills and gain practical experience including improved self-confidence and become better at thinking independently and expressing ideas.
